Instructions & Guidelines

  • There are only 6 major holidays that we observe each year.
  • In order for pick-up to be delayed, the actual holiday must fall on a weekday (Mon-Fri).
  • If the holiday falls on the weekend (Sat-Sun), there will be NO delay in your pick-up.
  • Please review the detailed pick-up schedule to see if your service will be delayed during the holidays.

2012 Schedule: Trash, Recycle, & Yard Waste

New Years Day Sun. – Jan, 1st New Year Day – We are Not Running Behind
Memorial Day Mon. – May, 28th Monday thru Friday all customers will run one day late
Independence Day Wed. – Jul, 4th Wednesday thru Friday customers only one day behind
Labor Day Mon. – Sep, 3nd All Customers will run one day late
Thanksgiving Day Thu. – Nov, 22nd Thursday & Friday customers ONLY will run one day late
Christmas Day Tue, – Dec, 25th Tuesday thru Friday. Customers are one day behind

2011 SCHEDULE: Trash, Recycle, & Yard Waste

New Years Day Saturday, 1/1/11 No Delay in Pick-up for all Customers.
Memorial Day Monday, 5/30/11 ALL customers will run 1 day late
Independence Day Monday, 7/4/11 ALL customers will run 1 day late
Labor Day Monday, 9/5/11 ALL Customers will run 1 day late
Thanksgiving Day Thursday, 11/24/11 Thursday & Friday customers ONLY will run 1 day late
Christmas Day Sunday, 12/25/11 NO delay in pickup for all customers

Goose Round Up Permit. Help Needed

Greetings:
We need some help in preparation for the 2011 Goose Round-Up.
You are receiving this because: you have either helped out with this in the past; or have expressed interest in effects of an uncontrolled goose population; or you use the beach during summer and particularly benefit from the Goose Round Up; OR merely b/c you are on the Moon Shadows email list.

The Permit we obtained 4 years ago for this extremely successful project will not be valid in 2011. Some rules and requirements have changed (ie. Nest removal and egg destruction is mandatory now). We need to obtain signatures from 70% of Rush Lake lakefront property owners, as we did 4 years ago. It is extremely important that we get this done or there will be no Goose Round Up in 2011. We need help.

A crew of us went door to door last week (Thanks to Mike Getsoian, Rick Conlin, Ken Powers, Jack Powers, Courtney Clark and the other usual suspects). We obtained about 40-50 signatures so far.

We still need:

  1. Approximately 50 more door-to-door attempts;
  2. Approximately 50 letters (and envelopes stuffed) to be mailed to summer cottage owners at their winter mailing address; and some phone calls to be made in follow-up to “1″ and “2″ above.
  3. Number “1″ above needs to be done now. Numbers “2″ & “3″ above need to be done over the next month, and can be done with flexibility from your home. We have all the materials and forms you will need, and will provide you with all the necessary information. It is easy, but just a little bit of time consuming.

CAUTION: Weed Suppressant Devices Installed at Beach

In our continued efforts to battle the weed encroachment coming in from the north & south shorelines at our beach, we installed “Lake Bottom Blankets” in the lake on the north side wading area at our beach this past weekend. These are enviro-friendly weed barriers that cover weeds on the lake floor bottom, blocking sunlight and thereby eliminating the weeds. The ‘blankets’ will stay in place for about a month and then be moved to the south side of wading area where they will stay for thirty days. They will then be removed.
Please prevent children from playing with them, pulling on them, pulling the ropes attached to them, or disturbing them, etc. It is okay to swim over them, but they hover just above the lake bottom and contain iron rods, so please use caution.

The system is designed to deprive undesirable weeds of sunlight for thirty days, after which the weeds will die and be gone for the season. After repeated use for several years, the weeds may cease growing each spring entirely. For more information, visit www.lakebottomblanket.com. Horseshoes at the Beach

Come join your neighbors down at the beach for some friendly horseshoes. No need to reserve a spot, just come down and have some fun. Horseshoes are played every Tuesday at 6:30 through summer and into the fall.
